Why Every Pastor Would Benefit from PSR
Martin McCorkle
As a Pastor, you set the example for transparency, accountability and integrity in your church. A great way to develop a healthy and enduring relationship is PSR.
First, PSR will elevate your relationship with your leadership board. When you share your calendar and weekly report with your leadership team, they will know what you do everyday and see your whole week at a glance. During every leadership meeting ask, “Do any of you have questions or comments about my schedule?”
Most people have no idea what a pastor does and their assumptions are often wildly mistaken. This is a bad place for a pastor to be. PSR can show your leaders the truth.
Second, having used PSR and reaped its benefit, you can pass this on to your staff. Simply say, “I use PSR and I like it. I would like you to do the same.” Set up staff accounts so your leadership board receives staff weekly reports. Ask if they also want access to staff calendars.
One might object: Can’t we just trust pastors to do their jobs?
Some studies show that average pastoral tenure in America is around 3 years. If you’re happy with the status quo, you can stop reading. Just plan to move a lot. But remember: Your church will respond to you based on what they THINK you do or what you actually DO. It’s your choice.
So try a free trial. There is nothing to lose and MUCH to gain.
